Google is currently testing a redesigned search homepage that removes the traditional search button for users without an active account. The update introduces three integrated AI tools directly beneath the search bar.
AI Tools and Search Bar Integration
The new layout replaces the standard button with three distinct AI features. Ask about files allows visitors to upload documents and query their contents without signing in. Brainstorm generates ideas and responses based on user prompts, also available without authentication. Create images requires a Google account to function. Additionally, AI Mode is now embedded within the search bar itself, granting unauthenticated users direct access to AI-driven search results. The interface dynamically adjusts based on login status. The three AI tool buttons vanish once a user signs into their Google account and return immediately upon logout. Early sightings of the updated homepage have been recorded across Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Perplexity Comet browsers.
Google has not provided official details regarding a full release. The current implementation appears to be a limited test or a phased server rollout, with visibility likely varying by region and user parameters.
